Hera globe is bleached of colour, oceans drained and continents reconnected - not Pangaea surrounded by Panthalassa because 300 million years have elapsed during which Antarctica, Australasia and Asia have drifted apart to stand proud – but all animals freely roam, masters of their own will. This graphic of clean mathematical precision provides an empty circus stage where flora and fauna can play out in a carnival of pleasure. A regal giraffe stands astride the Bismarck and Solomon seas, an exquisite Indian peacock irreverently displays in Mongolia, whilst on the Southern pole elegant flamingos dip their feet in icy waters. As the sun sets casting its shadow, lamps light up the earth and pick out butterflies, balloons and fish in flight. Kristjana has created here a graphic celebration of her imagination.
